Painting Group, 3-15-2017

The weather predictions were foul, Mother Nature was creating havoc, and many chose to stay safe and warm at home.  However, a few hearty (or, foolhardy) souls ventured out to painting group.  The four of us enjoyed each others company, and even did a little painting, before heading back to the comfort of our respective dwellings.  And, in fact, the weather wasn't really bad.

Second Monday Critiques, 3-13-2017

One of Don's first paintings!  Excellent job, we all agreed!

Don

Lee's layered acrylic

Lots of questions about process...

Watercolor by Dave...abstract floral.

Jackie with her sensitive, lovely portrait.

Bill's bold sunflower...can you see the bee?

A stunning, glowing landscape by Donna.

Dave did this oil painting on location in about 45 minutes!  Beautiful.

Another layered piece by Lee...in progress...a long way to go!

A beautiful painting of an old church, by Jackie.  Soothing, inviting colors!

An experimental abstract portrait by Bill.
Although we were missing some of our "regulars" today, we had a stimulating and inspiring critique session.  Sharing ideas and processes is so helpful, and has made a difference in the art of many of our participants.  This group is extremely supportive of everyone's efforts.

Art at the Center, 3-8-2017

Thank you, Gerri, for being behind the camera today!  As you can see everyone was eager to "do their thing" on this windy morning.  A great way to spend the early part of a Wednesday!

Art at the Center, 3-1-2017

Wow!  Gerri's alcohol ink painting!

Paula, Judy, and last but not least,  Dave

Working from an image on her Kindle, Judy begins a colored-pencil still life.

Dave's imagination on paper...in watercolor.

Chris is still working with her colors, but an image has also appeared.

A cheerful, colored-pencil bird portrait by Karen.

Most of today's painters...minus Donna and Lee!
On this windy and rainy first day of March, eight of us ventured out to the rec center to paint together!  Painting as a group is fun, inspiring, and motivating.  We can all learn from one another and give each other that that little boost of confidence that is so often needed.
