Welcome to first-timers Bonnie and Sandy!  Glad to have you with us.  It was another insightful and energizing critique although the crowd got a bit rowdy with George and Bill doing their usual verbal sparring.  Despite that, we received some useful pointers from the group.  For example, it was noted that cardboard should not be used as backing for a painting because it is not acid free and can eventually damage the work.  Foam core would be a better choice.  A couple of pieces of experimental work were presented, as well as several other lovely paintings.  It's fascinating to learn the ways in which different artists interpret and paint their subjects.

Art at the Center, July 5, 2017

Today we welcome Bonnie to our painting group.  Bonnie's lovely art is featured at the top of this post, and we are happy to have her as our newest member.  We think perhaps some of our regular painters were recuperating from 4th of July celebrations, hence our cozy group this week.  Nonetheless, the four of us had an energetic and productive morning and were able to make progress on our current work.

From these photos, you can get a really good sense of the type of folks that are part of this group.  They obviously take themselves very seriously and allow nothing to interfere with their art.  WELL...except for chatting and having a good time.  Donna did manage to get some work done.  The rest...well...  Actually, this zany bunch manages to create a lot of beautiful art and, needless to say, makes it a pleasure to be there.  Hope YOU can join us sometime soon.

This month's critique was exceptional.  The work was outstanding, and we covered a lot of ground in a relatively short amount of time.  We'll be watching for those photo references by George to reappear as watercolor painting.

Art at the Center, 6-7-2017

After a 2-week hiatus, we again convened to paint and create.  Some folks were starting new work, while others are continuing to develop paintings that they have been working on for a while.  It was nice to see some folks who had been missing for a while.  And, we all enjoyed a quiet morning, with everyone busy "doing their thing."
