Using the book "Luc Leestemaker Paintings" as inspiration, the goal today was to express our feelings on canvas or paper using only color and design.  Despite some initial groans and gnashing of teeth, everyone put brush (or something) to canvas and created the magnificent paintings you see above.  What an incredibly talented group of artists.  Bravo!!!

A beginning!

Everyone wanted to be inside where it was warm today!  Apparently the cold weather sparked creativity because we had a great turnout that resulted in lots of good art in various stages of completion.

Several of us were particularly intrigued with Dave's paintings on rice paper.  To prepare the paper, he wets it thoroughly, then crumples it in his hand, then flattens it and allows it to dry completely before painting, creating a lovely effect, as you can see above.  Dave was using watercolors for these painting.

Betty, laying in the underpainting!
Someone has a LOT of pastels!  Aren't they beautiful?

Four of us braved the elements this morning to get together and paint.  We are a determined bunch!

Another successful season of painting comes to an end...

To end a really fabulous season appropriately, Dave Zeih came and modeled for our group's Spring Finale.  Interspersed with lots of drawing and painting, we shared a few stories and had a couple of laughs as we ended this year's season of Art at the Center.  Seven of us painted, and then most of us went to Kelly's Cafe for Crepes.  A perfect way to end a great season!  We're now looking forward to plein air season, beginning next month, and then we'll be back here next Fall for more Art at the Center.
