Art at the Center, 4-19-2017

A small group this morning, but the camaraderie and creative spirit was apparent.  Donna's colored-pencil scene sparkles and draws the eye right it.  Jackie is getting close to the finish line with her sweetacrylic painting of a child (grandchild?) and horse.  Don's portrait appears to be nearing completion also.  The lovely, bright scarf sets figure out from the background and attracts the viewer.  And, Betty was playing around again!.  This intriguing  abstract image is on yupo.  Lovely!

Critique Group, 4-10-2017

Our critiques are always energizing because we never know quite what to expect.  The work is varied and interesting, and some of the artists occasionally surprise us with a new medium or a new style.  What a great way to learn how to critique our artwork... within the comfort of a caring, supportive group.

Painting Group, 4-5-2017

Spring is in the air, but it was still a bit chilly as we headed to painting group this week.  Not quite warm enough for plein air painting, so we had a large group and, as you can see, the subject matter and media are very diverse.  A special treat was Betty's Gelli Plate.  Talk about exciting work!  An easy and fun to boot!  The lead photo is one of Betty's Gelli Plate mono prints, done using twine and acrylic paint.

Painting Group, 3-15-2017

The weather predictions were foul, Mother Nature was creating havoc, and many chose to stay safe and warm at home.  However, a few hearty (or, foolhardy) souls ventured out to painting group.  The four of us enjoyed each others company, and even did a little painting, before heading back to the comfort of our respective dwellings.  And, in fact, the weather wasn't really bad.

Second Monday Critiques, 3-13-2017

One of Don's first paintings!  Excellent job, we all agreed!

Don

Lee's layered acrylic

Lots of questions about process...

Watercolor by Dave...abstract floral.

Jackie with her sensitive, lovely portrait.

Bill's bold sunflower...can you see the bee?

A stunning, glowing landscape by Donna.

Dave did this oil painting on location in about 45 minutes!  Beautiful.

Another layered piece by Lee...in progress...a long way to go!

A beautiful painting of an old church, by Jackie.  Soothing, inviting colors!

An experimental abstract portrait by Bill.
Although we were missing some of our "regulars" today, we had a stimulating and inspiring critique session.  Sharing ideas and processes is so helpful, and has made a difference in the art of many of our participants.  This group is extremely supportive of everyone's efforts.
