Art at the Center, July 19, 2017

We were surprised to find that we would be meeting in the all-purpose room for this painting session.  The lighting was mediocre, at best (that's my excuse for the poor quality photos), but we still managed to enjoy our time together and create some lovely art.

Art at the Center, 7-12-2017

You could have heard a pin drop!  Everyone was so focused today!  We still did some chatting and sharing of ideas, but primarily it was a day of concentrating on creating our art!  A special thanks to Michele for loaning me her phone to take photos.

Welcome to first-timers Bonnie and Sandy!  Glad to have you with us.  It was another insightful and energizing critique although the crowd got a bit rowdy with George and Bill doing their usual verbal sparring.  Despite that, we received some useful pointers from the group.  For example, it was noted that cardboard should not be used as backing for a painting because it is not acid free and can eventually damage the work.  Foam core would be a better choice.  A couple of pieces of experimental work were presented, as well as several other lovely paintings.  It's fascinating to learn the ways in which different artists interpret and paint their subjects.

Art at the Center, July 5, 2017

Today we welcome Bonnie to our painting group.  Bonnie's lovely art is featured at the top of this post, and we are happy to have her as our newest member.  We think perhaps some of our regular painters were recuperating from 4th of July celebrations, hence our cozy group this week.  Nonetheless, the four of us had an energetic and productive morning and were able to make progress on our current work.
