REMINDER
Let's have some fun!
Encaustics (wax painting) Workshop
Presented by: Dave Fawcett and Lee Beuther
Wednesday, April 10, 2019
9:00 AM - Noon
FREE!
If you have a small craft iron, please feel free to bring it. If possible, please bring a roll of paper towels. We will use a LOT of paper towels.
You will learn the history of encaustic painting and have a chance to practice two of the three most common methods of creating encaustic art. We will talk about encaustic paints and will have some samples for you to see, but you will be using crayons for this workshop. We may touch briefly on color theory.
We will provide:
Crayons, craft irons, a hot tray, and small pieces of mat board (approx. 3x5), and paper or fabric covers for the tables. There will be a limited supply of 5x7 and 4x6 pieces of matboard. There will be books about encaustic painting and some sample paintings, samples of encaustic paint, and tools used in encaustic painting.
Feel free to bring some larger pieces of mat board and some paper to also use. 5x7 is a great size for working with encaustics. Also, metallic paper is fun.
A friendly suggestion: Don't wear your Sunday best for this workshop. Older clothes and a smock are a good idea. No rubber gloves...we'll be working with hot irons!
This workshop is always fun, and no two encaustic painting are alike. You do not need to know how to draw, just be willing to play with the wax and experiment with different designs.
